In addition to the produce
from its growers, The Greenery imports fruit and vegetables from
over 60 countries. As an intermediary between grower and consumer,
we take every opportunity to provide added value. We help growers
by gathering and distributing knowledge - helping good ideas from
all around the world to find fertile ground.
The Greenery policy
- Gathering and sharing knowledge
- Providing support for domestic and foreign growers
- Cooperating with special interest groups
Knowledge and expertise
Growers servicing the European
market can rely on The Greenery's intensive assistance when it
comes to meeting quality and food safety requirements. We will
conduct visits to the cultivation site in order to analyse
production methods. We will provide solutions for any bottlenecks
and identify potential for the continual improvement of crop
quality and value.
Social responsibility
We fulfil our social obligations by
improving the lives of all those involved in the supply chain. The
Greenery conducts its operations on the basis of Ethical
Trade Initiative (ETI) principles regarding the ethical,
social and ecological aspects of entrepreneurship. We work in
cooperation with growers to improve the working conditions, housing
and remuneration of employees.
Maintaining close ties with growers
Harmonising the supply provided by
our growers with market demands is a continual process. This is why
The Greenery regularly consults with growers outside the EU. In the
event of any problems - caused by plant diseases or weather
conditions - we will help growers find effective solutions.
Consulting with special interest groups
The responsible production of
foodstuffs is an issue that affects us all. As an international
trading organisation, The Greenery can influence what and how we
eat. We seek to use our position in a responsible manner. This is
why we consult with consumers, growers, retailers, special interest
groups and government bodies in order to help them propagate their
good ideas.
