With growers, on the road,
in distribution centres and in the office: every link in the chain
offers opportunities for increasing sustainability. By employing
smarter work methods, we can help save the environment and avoid
unnecessary costs.
Sustainability all the way down the chain
The Greenery carefully considers
opportunities for increasing sustainability. We implement
cost-effective new technologies. We also make processes even more
efficient. This means we need fewer raw materials to achieve the
same goals. Here are a few examples: we use energy-efficient light
sources in buildings, cut down on material by using innovative
packaging solutions and use new cooling cells that use
CO2 as cooling agent instead of harmful HCFCs and
CFCs.
Efficient logistics
Currently, the best option for
transporting fruit, vegetables and mushrooms is road transport.
Using an advanced planning system, we minimise the number of
transport movements. With a modern fleet we keep fuel consumption
to a minimum. For example, deploying LHVs (Long Heavy Vehicles)
saves us some 15% of fuel per pallet.

Thanks to our noise-reducing trucks, we can steer clear of busy
times on the road. As a member of the Fresh Corridor initiative we
support the development of alternatives, such as using rail and
internal shipping links.
Fair pay for fair work
The hard work of growers should
remain economically viable. This gives entrepreneurs the confidence
and financial scope to innovate and invest. By continuously
optimising the chain, we create more financial scope for
growers.
